The Arachnids™ are coming!

Scorpions glow when exposed to certain wavelengths of ultraviolet light such as that produced by a blacklight, due to the presence of fluorescent chemicals in the cuticle. One fluorescent component is now known to be beta-carboline.

As it says, "As with any flashlight don't direct it directly into anyone's eyes." Would you direct a regular flashlight with normal white lite into someone's eyes? No, so you should do it with a blacklight either. Incidental or short exposure is fine just like a regular flashlight, but you don't want someone staring into it for long periods of time. It's really just using common sense like you would with any flashlight. It isn't a toy.

I'm in the process of getting rid of my stuff... keeping the husband and 2 kids though... maybe I'll make them do their own 100 Things list... I've already got my 5-year-old son to downsize his collection of "pamphlets I find in every store I go into and flyers I get in my mailbox" down to about 20. It ain't been easy, I tell ya!
